Shorten any URL ​

Dropshare includes a built-in universal URL shortener that works without uploading any files. You can turn any link into a short URL instantly - perfect for sharing long or complex links quickly.

How It Works ​

Depending on your URL shortener configuration (Preferences → Uploads → URLs), you can shorten URLs in two convenient ways:

  • Drag & Drop: Drag a URL (e.g., from your browser’s address bar) onto the Dropshare menu bar icon or the Dropshare Zone.
  • From Clipboard: Copy any URL to your clipboard and trigger the Upload From Clipboard keyboard shortcut.

Dropshare will then shorten the URL and automatically copy the shortened version to your clipboard.

If you enable “Large-type shortened URLs on screen” in the General preferences, Dropshare will briefly display the shortened link on screen - for example, to make verbal sharing easier.
